Camp Helen State Park

Visit one of the largest coastal dune lakes in Florida at Camp Helen State Park! With the Gulf of Mexico on one side and Lake Powell on the other, Camp Helen is a place where visitors can explore an environment rich in natural and cultural resources. The beaches here are a pristine wonder and allow you to truly get away from it all.

Prehistoric middens and mounds indicate that humans inhabited the area more than 4,000 years ago. From 1945 until 1987, Camp Helen was a company resort for the employees of an Alabama textile mill known as Avondale Mills. Hiking through the park, you feel the experience of returning to an earlier time, when life moved more slowly because the untouched landscape seems to go on forever.
